Student support services at Aquinas are comprehensive, well established and highly regarded by students, parents and inspectors. Our tutorial programme has been designed to give you the best possible support during your time here: you can expect regular meetings with your tutor to discuss progress and future plans in individual and group sessions. Targets are set and reviewed each term and your performance is closely monitored, giving you an exact picture of how well you are doing and what you need to do to improve. Your Group Tutor is usually also one of your subject teachers and tutor groups are year based.
Students are encouraged to approach any member of staff if difficulties or problems arise. A referral system is in place to enable students to access support from the Learning Support team.
We aim to help you organise yourself and your work. Each student is offered support with study skills such as work organisation and scheduling, essay writing and exam techniques. The Learning Support team can also offer individual study support sessions where appropriate.
We think you deserve to achieve your very best potential. We organise each student’s curriculum on an individual basis. A dedicated student information point and reception area keep you up to date with the everyday activity of the college, as does our daily bulletin which is streamed on screens across the college.
We will also help with applications for financial support, such as awards from the Learning Support Fund, and our own Bursary scheme.
The chapel is always open for prayer and reflection. Mass is celebrated twice a week with our chaplain and local parish priests. Our college chaplain organises a variety of activities including social trips, retreats and fund-raising events as well as a drop-in spiritual support service for students.
The college welcomes the Disability Discrimination Act, the spirit of which is enshrined in the college’s mission.
