AS/A2 - Single and Double Award - AQA

This course will provide students with the ability to:

  • Develop a critical understanding of organisations and the market they serve
  • Acquire a range of skills including decision making and problem solving
  • Be aware of current structures of business and business practice in different sectors and environments.
  • Acquire a good grounding in business for higher education and employment.
Course Outline

  • A/S Award.  3 AS units, typically one of which is externally tested, the remainder internally assessed: grade A-E.
  • A/S Double Award. 6 AS Units, typically two of which are externally tested, the remainder internally assessed: Graded AA, AB - EE.
  • Advanced Level.  6 Units (3 AS units plus 3 A2 Units), one externally tested, the remainder internally assessed; graded A-E.
  • Advanced Level Double Award 12 units (6 AS units plus 6 A2 units), typically two of which are externally tested, the remainder internally assessed; graded AA, AB - EE.

Applied courses are designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the world of work.  Teaching and learning strategies have been devised to give students the chance to experience a range of work-related activities and contexts in their course.  Much emphasis is placed on what actually happens in business organisations.  Visits and external speakers are utilised throughout the course.
