Health and Social Care AS/A2 AQA

This course will provide the student with knowledge of the key factors involved in health care. A range of theories are looked at and applied to the care setting. Students will have the opportunity to practice a range of skills that will benefit them in future careers. The course at AS and A2consists of three units equally weighted, both a combination of examination and portfolio work. The course is of particular value to those wishing to pursue a career in the health field, childcare and education.

Course Outline
6 units – 3 AS 3 A2.

AS Level

Effective Caring – this gives the student an opportunity to discover the factors that contribute to the experience of the client in a health setting. This is assessed by examination.

Effective Communication – this unit looks at factors that can aid or negatively impact on communicationin healthcare. This is assessed by portfolio work.

Health, Illness and Disease- this unit explores the concept of health and looks at common diseases and the individual perceptions of these. This is assessed by portfolio work.

A2 Level

Working in Health and Social Care- this unit gives the students an insight into working in a healthcare setting. This is assessed by portfolio work. 

Research Methods – this is assessed by portfolio work.

Factors Affecting Human Development – This is assessed by external exam
