On Monday 28th November 2011, 50 students and 5 staff left for Poland as part of their study of the AS History unit; Anti-Semitism, Hitler and the German People 1919-1945. This was our fourth consecutive trip to Krakow, the purpose of which is to give some meaning to the statistics of victims in the text books and encourage students to understand the true magnitude and scale of the tragedy that was the Holocaust. Over five days, we follow the story of the Jewish community of 67,000 that lived in Krakow before the Nazi invasion of Poland on 1st September 1939.
