This course looks at the basic principles of baking; using the correct equipment, ingredients and techniques to ensure a recipe is produced successfully. This is a practical, hands-on cookery course, designed for beginners, so each technique will be taught “from scratch” to ensure clarity and understanding.
You will prepare a range of cakes, biscuits, tarts, pies, flans, pastries, breads and muffins. Each week you will be offered a choice of dishes so that you can build up a portfolio of recipes.
By the end of the course you will have developed your knowledge and skills, and increased your confidence to reproduce the recipes at home, and to move on to a more advanced course

This course looks at ways to create attractive and decorative cakes, biscuits, pastries, breads and savoury items which could be suitable as a gift, or for a buffet party, or just to enjoy at home. You will prepare a variety of sweet and savoury pastries and doughs, as well as fillings and toppings, and you will learn how to apply or combine these successfully, enabling you to create a range of attractive and decorative bakery recipes.
By the end of the course you will be able to prepare more advanced recipes, and learn a variety of presentation techniques and decorating skills to give you that added professional finish.
