Wellspring – Supporting the ‘Ruck Sack’ Challenge

wellspring stockport rucksack challenge tutor group student engagement charity

Tutor Group 6D1 have been spreading seasonal good will by supporting the Wellspring’s ruck sack challenge.

A few weeks ago tutor, Gary Smilie, challenged his tutor group to fill a ruck sack with warm clothing and food as a donation to the Wellspring this winter.

Gary said today, “They were so good bringing in tonnes of stuff, that we decided they should donate it themselves, so today myself, James, Molly, Eve and Marie headed down there to pass on our donation.”

The contribution was warmly received by the staff at the Wellspring Centre in Stockport. Nicky, who manages the Centre gave our students a brief tour, sharing the work they do in support of homeless and disadvantaged people.

Gary commented on the experience, “The students were charming, warm and a credit to the college.  It was an all-round positive experience and a reminder of how big-hearted Aquinas students regularly are.”

Well done and thank you 6D1.
