The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) achieved a grade 1 "Excellent Service Award" in July 2002 from the Council for Learning Resources in Colleges.
LRC Mission Statement The Learning Resources Centre strives to support the teaching, learning and information needs of the College community by providing an appropriate range of good quality, well-managed services and resources, supported by a well trained, responsive staff team who actively encourage involvement in the development of the service and who work to ensure the service is accessible, without prejudice and is an effective place to study.
Opening Times
During term time the LRC is open:
Monday - Tuesday 8.00am to 7.30pm
Wednesday - Thursday 8.00am to 5.30pm
Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm
During vacation time the LRC is open:
Monday - Friday 9.00am - 4.00pm
It is advisable to double check our holiday times before visiting during vacation as the building may be subject to early closure.

Membership You automatically become a member of the LRC on joining the College, but to borrow resources or use computers in the Centre you will need to use your LRC student card. The card will be issued to you soon after you arrive (subject to you having paid your book deposit and having had a photograph taken).
Resources available: For details of what is available, search the LRC's online catalogue www.opac.aquinas.ac.uk/opac/
Books: You will find a range of fiction and non-fiction titles to support the courses taught in the college as well as some study skills materials and leisure reading.
Audio Visual Materials: in the AV section the LRC has a collection of videos, DVDs, multi-media packs and CDs. They are all available free-of-charge to borrow or you can use the LRC's playback facilities
Journals and Newspapers: Up-to-date and concise information is available via a collection of daily and weekly newspapers and over 100 journal titles. English as well as foreign language titles are available.
Electronic resources and the Internet: There are a number of online journals and book titles, and other information databases available via the Internet.
Other facilities: There are a number of networked computers, wireless laptops and a photocopier. Please ask a member of LRC staff for further details. |
