Complementary Studies

Complementary Studies is the name given to the voluntary extra-curricular courses that run at Aquinas.  Activities are run at various times spread throughout the college week, and you can enrol for any options that appeal to you, that do not clash with your main subject timetables.

The range of activities on offer varies from year to year, but typically you can expect to choose from:

  • Sports-based activities - college sports teams; badminton; basketball; Chinese kung-fu; indoor football; rock climbing; skiing/snowboarding; table tennis; trampolining, etc.
  • Skills and interests - Amnesty group; Aquinas India Partnership; bar competition; college magazine; community service; creative writing; Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme; foreign exchange visits (Romanian, Italian, etc.); Japanese for beginners; Japanese culture; orchestra; Origami, RADA Shakespeare Certificate; survival Spanish; Young Enterprise scheme etc.

Most courses run for one or two hours per week for either a half-year or whole-year period.  Some courses lead to external certification, but all of them rely on your goodwill and enthusiasm.  This is your chance to do something different, just for the fun of it.
