What is the EDC ? EDC stands for Educational Development Centre. It is a classroom-sized facility created to support the exploration of learning and teaching. It enables staff, working with students, fellow colleagues, outside trainers or colleagues from other institutions and bodies to:
- reflect on their teaching style and share good practice with colleagues
- explore new technologies in a comfortable, supported environment
- consider how they might integrate IT into lesson planning and teaching practice
- evaluate different teaching room layouts and furniture styles.
What activities take place in the EDC ? A mix of activities such as:
- whole class supported subject lessons – teaching staff can book in to use the facility with their students once they have undertaken training on the use of the EDC
- a full programme of sharing good practice events
- regular drop-in and bookable one-to-one or group support sessions on such things as the use of the VLE or use of the kit in the EDC
- regular events show casing new technology
- meetings, both internal and external
