Biology is a fascinating subject which is very relevant to all our lives.  The course will provide an insight into living organisms, their structure, function and interrelationships (with special emphasis on Man).

The specification is stimulating and builds on concepts and the skills that you will have developed during your study of GCSE Science.  We will study the applications of biology in everyday life, which means that you will acquire knowledge and understanding of essential principles in a context which you will find interesting.

This subject can be studied at AS and A2 level
For both AS and A2 there are three modules.

How is this qualification assessed?
Exams will be in January and June

total A level 1 module involves the internal assessment of practical skills (20% of AS/10% of A level marks)

A2 Level

(20% of A2/10% of Advanced GCE)

Lessons will be a mixture of both theory and practical sessions, which will take place in specialist laboratories.  In addition field trips, lectures and visits will be organised to enhance your understanding and interest.

During your study of this subject you will develop many transferable skills (eg analytical, communication, observational, ICT, and group working) - this makes biology a very well respected science, which is useful for many careers and HE courses.

We believe that you will find this subject exciting, relevant and challenging.
