Advanced Diploma
From September 2010 our current curriculum will be extended to include Advanced Diplomas, which can be taken alongside traditional A levels. The new Advanced Diploma is a highly regarded qualification and a flexible alternative to the traditional A level. It will help keep your options open while easily leading to Higher Education or a rewarding career. Based around work within a particular occupational sector this course allows you to work in different environments and experience varied learning styles while enjoying both practical and theoretical work. In addition you will work in a team, think creatively, work independently and develop the ability to reflect and manage yourself.
By the end of the course you will be able to express yourself confidently and know how to apply your knowledge and skills creatively in any work related situation. In this way you will be highly valued by universities and employers.
The Sport and Leisure Advanced Diploma will help learners acquire an understanding of the sport and leisure industry and the employability skills its employers most value, while at the same time allowing individuals an opportunity to progress with education and/or their chosen career.
During your course you will study:
Sport and Active Leisure and the individual Active healthy lifestyles, management in sport and leisure and applying sport science to practical situations
Sport and Active Leisure and the Economy Leisure workforce and the economy, globalisation and sport and active leisure; Politics and policies in sport and active leisure
Sport and Active Leisure and the community Promoting activities for all in sport and active leisure and developing community cohesion through sport and active leisure
You will also have the opportunity to develop wider skills in coaching, officiating and instructing. You will experience working in the sport industry, and attain extra coaching and leading qualifications. These could include the FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate, and other governing body qualifications.
