After Aquinas Careers Event, Thursday 28th March #AfterAquinas19

After Aquinas

After Aquinas Event

Last month, we held our annual ‘After Aquinas’ careers guidance event, supporting our students to make informed career choices!
The After Aquinas event for students and their parents is a great opportunity for them to find out more information from the various universities, employers and apprenticeship providers to help students think about their options when they leave Aquinas.
The evening was a success as we welcomed over 70 universities, apprenticeship providers, employers and gap year organisations! This year’s new additions included the new university, UA92, School of Journalism and a talk from Harvard University! Representatives from the Manchester Metropolitan University and Laing O’Rourke offered important information for students to consider degree apprenticeship opportunities.
The representatives from the various institutions, services and companies were available along the college’s student street, being more than willing to speak with students and their parents, providing them with prospectuses and other printed information to inform their choices. Representatives commented it was a very busy night and our students were polite and respectful, asking appropriate questions.
A series of presentations also took place covering themes such as, selecting the right universities and courses, university applications – support presentation for parents, student finance, apprenticeship routes, university life, healthcare professions, gap years and a studying abroad!
Feedback from the night was very positive with students stating:
• “I found it helpful to learn about the different courses at each university and to learn about what they have to offer.”
• “Very helpful as the people were all very informative. There was a wide range of providers so I could speak to a lot of different people about all of my potential career options.”
• “This event helped me find out about a variety of courses and to find out more about potential careers that courses could lead to.”
• “The careers evening was very useful and helped guide me to what I want to do after Aquinas…I am reliant on knowing that there is a great careers team at Aquinas that can help me with this decision.”
