Aquinas Performing Arts students were out at the Palace Theatre in Manchester this week seeing Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables”. The show was fantastic and the students were a credit to the college. This Musical has so much to offer the audience as they are taken on a journey through the desperate world of Jean Valjean. The set design alone made this an amazing experience for the students. From the deck of a mighty ship, from a ramshackle inn to an entire village, multi-storey sets and props slide in and out with barely a creak or a groan. It’s all aided by projections that warp space and time and leave the audience feeling as though they have been swallowed by a surging river or sucked into a desolate sewer. There was so much to look at and appreciate about this show and both the singing and the choreography was stunning.
