Drama Students visit the Lowry Theatre

Drama students visit the Lowry

Aquinas A level Drama and Theatre students were visiting live theatre again in Manchester. At the Lowry Theatre in Salford. On the 2nd November they watched ‘the Shawshank Redemption’ starring Joe Absolom and Ben Onwukwe, directed by David Esbjornson. This profound and moving play based on the short novel “Rita Haworth and the Shawshank Redemption” by Stephen King is set in the maximum security penitentiary over the course of 20 years. It is a gritty narrative of a man wrongfully imprisoned for a murder he did not commit, which went on to become one of the best-loved classics in movie history, filmed in 1994 starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. The students thoroughly enjoyed the trip and have followed it up in class with exam focused work.
