18 lower sixth maths students and two members of staff had an early start at Stockport Station for their trip to The Royal Institution in London for MathsFest 2022. There was the chance to meet celebrities from the maths world such as Matt Parker and James Grime as well as taking part in a range of competitions.
Talks ranged from the maths behind a music scale and noise cancelling headphones to how they broke the most dificult Nazi code in WW2 (it wasn’t Enigma) and how guilty should you feel if you take the last chocolate biscuit. Look out for more about these topics and others in the next edition of the AQ Magazine
