Drama students and students from the Arts Award programme participated in a careers workshop led by Thom Stocks from the Royal Exchange Theatre company on Monday 4th November. The students focused on identifying career opportunities and professional roles within the theatre industry. The workshop gave the students the chance to get ‘hands on’ with theatre props created by the Royal Exchange, including rubber moulded ears, tongues, hair and wigs made from fake cauliflowers and turnips and explored the range of employment roles from the theatre’s personnel including box office, front of house, events coordinators, facilitating teams and more.
The students worked in groups to create imagined ‘blue sky thinking projects’ with the aim of persuading ‘dragon’s den’ directors to fund their imagined projects. This was an amazing opportunity for Aquinas students to get first hand experience working with an industry professional in the performing arts area.
