Young Carers
At Aquinas College, we recognise that caring for a family member is a significant responsibility. We are committed to providing a flexible, supportive environment so that every young carer can balance their responsibilities and achieve their full potential.
Who is a Young Carer?
A young carer is any student who provides care or support for a family member living with a physical disability, long-term health condition, mental health need, or substance misuse issue. This support might include physical or practical help, assistance with medication, or emotional care.
Whether you have been caring for someone for years or your situation changes while you are studying with us, sharing your circumstances helps us ensure you receive the right academic, practical, and personal support.
Key Contacts & Young Carer Network
We offer dedicated key contacts to support your transition, adapt your study plans when needed, and coordinate social opportunities—including trips, visits, and a peer support network to connect with other young carers in college.
