Mental Health Promotion Day

Mental Health Promotion Day stalls on the first floor

Aquinas College held a Mental Health Promotion Day this Wednesday in recognition of World Mental Health Day on the 10th October. This event helped raise awareness of mental health issues and to break down the stigma often associated with these issues. Both Stockport Mind and Kooth came into College to do workshops with our students and to promote their services.

Wednesday was chosen as the day to promote this because every week here in College we have Wellbeing Wednesdays. Our enrichment coordinator, Kelley Dawson, has put together a whole raft of activities, from origami and art and craft to retro video games and PS4 favourites. We want to encourage students to access professional organisations for mental health issues as well as taking a well-earned break from their studies to help maintain their mental wellbeing.
