Oxford honours ‘Inspirational’ Aquinas College teacher

Aquinas College Biology teacher Anna Knowles is one of only ten state school and college teachers from across Britain that has been honoured as an ‘inspirational teacher’ by Oxford University, as part of an awards scheme designed to recognise excellent teachers.

Anna was nominated by ex-Aquinas student Maddie O’Connor who is now in her first-year at Oxford studying Biology. It is clear from what Maddie says as to why she thought Anna was an inspirational teacher.

“I went into the [Oxford University] interviews with the sort of mind-set where I can actually do this and if I hadn’t had that sort of backing from her and the rest of the Biology department I feel like it would have been such a different experience, because she makes you believe in yourself.”
