Pathways lift the Trophy

Steve Bellis stood next to the trophy

The Pathways department invited Steve Bellis, President of Stockport County Football Club, into college on Wednesday 8th June to meet the students and show off the National League trophy they won in May securing their promotion back into the English league.

The students (and staff) took turns lifting the trophy, which was surprisingly heavy, and asked Steve questions about his career, the club and his passion for Stockport County, oh and his pets! Apparently, he rescued a piglet, named it Peggy and took it to Edgeley Park on match days where she posed with the team for photos on the manager’s knee!
Steve was also reunited with his teacher from his days at Aquinas, Eddie Moore and spoke about how Eddie had inspired him to be where he is today.

The students loved meeting him and seeing the trophy (even the City supporters!) and we thank Steve for bringing it in and talking to our students – sharing his pride in the team and their achievement.
