Aquinas College proudly welcomed guests on Wednesday 26th November for the official opening of its newest development, the Romero Building. The event marked a significant moment in the college’s ongoing commitment to enhancing teaching and learning spaces for its growing number of students.
The ceremony was led by former Principal Danny Pearson, who originally oversaw the planning and development of the Romero Building during his leadership. Danny returned to unveil a commemorative plaque celebrating both his contribution and the formal opening of the building.
He was joined by current Principal Jo Dommett and Aquinas’ first Principal, Ambrose Smith, bringing together the past and the present in recognition of the college’s continued growth and ambition. Governors, contractors, and funders were also in attendance, with the evening serving as an opportunity for the governing body to thank all those who contributed to the completion of the project.
The Romero Building represents a significant investment in the future of Aquinas College, offering modern, spacious, and specialist facilities for students across multiple departments. Final snagging checks will take place in December, after which the college plans to further “Aquinasise” the interior with artwork, displays, and installations that will bring the building to life.
The opening marks an exciting milestone, reflecting the college’s ongoing dedication to creating an inspiring and supportive environment where students can continue to thrive.
