Aquinas College was honoured to welcome Cardinal Giorgio Marengo for a special talk and Q&A session with students from Aquinas and St James.
Cardinal Marengo, who serves in Mongolia, shared stories from his ministry and spoke openly about faith, community, and his experiences working in a very different cultural and social context. Students listened attentively and engaged confidently, asking thoughtful questions that demonstrated genuine curiosity and reflection.
The session provided a rare opportunity for students to hear first-hand accounts of life and faith beyond the UK, and to engage in meaningful dialogue with a global religious leader.
Andy Bailey and Lay Chaplain Laeticia both commented on the conduct of the students, noting how courteous, respectful and genuinely engaged they were throughout the event. Their attentiveness and willingness to listen and ask considered questions helped create a welcoming and reflective atmosphere.
The visit was described as an incredible opportunity and a real privilege for the college community. It was a memorable experience for all involved and a powerful example of Aquinas students engaging thoughtfully with the wider world.
