In January, 10 of our brightest chemistry students took part in the annual RSC Chemistry Olympiad. We would like to congratulate all students for taking part in this really tough national competition. Simply participating speaks volumes about the character of the students involved, showing their determination and resilience in the face of academic challenge, attributes they can take forward in their future studies. Our students achieved remarkably well: 2 gaining Bronze, 6 silver and 2 gold award – getting any certificate is no simple task.
In June 2023, 15 (5 teams) of our students also participated in the Schools Analyst competition. This competition enables students to demonstrate and expand on their existing chemistry knowledge, skills and aptitude for analytical science through practical analytical experiments based on relevant societal or industrial problems. One team worked remarkably well together and came in first place. This included the following students: Niamh Hinchcliff, Adam Kershaw and Zachary Kean.
