The Upper 6th Applied Business students recently visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach to gain real-world insight into how a large entertainment business operates. The Pleasure Beach has been in the same family since 1896 and gave students a great example of a Private Limited Company. During the visit, they learnt about how the park invests in new rides to stay competitive, as well as how it tracks customer data — including how many times guests go on certain rides, the order they visit attractions, and even how long they spend eating lunch!
The students also discovered how Blackpool Pleasure Beach uses key metrics to measure the success of its advertising campaigns and make data-driven decisions to improve marketing performance. Of course, no visit would be complete without experiencing some of the park’s famous rides and attractions including Icon and The Big One, winning giant teddies in the arcades, with some even choosing to end the day with a soaking on Valhalla — making it an exciting and memorable day of learning for all.
