History students from Aquinas College travelled to Rome as part of the college’s International Study Week, enjoying an immersive visit to one of the world’s most historically significant cities.
During the trip, students explored a range of iconic landmarks that brought centuries of European history to life. A visit to Vatican City provided insight into the religious and cultural influence of the Catholic Church, while the famous Spanish Steps offered a glimpse into the artistic and architectural heritage of the city.
Students also visited the striking Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, a monumental marble building in the EUR district often referred to as the “Square Colosseum” because of its symmetrical rows of arches. The building is an example of 20th-century Italian architecture inspired by classical Roman design.
Another highlight of the trip was visiting the Colosseum, where students were able to stand inside the ancient amphitheatre and reflect on the scale and legacy of the Roman Empire.
Throughout the visit, students represented the college superbly, embracing the opportunity to experience history first-hand. Staff praised their enthusiasm and engagement, describing the trip as a fantastic educational experience and a memorable part of this year’s International Study Week.
