On Tuesday 28th April,15 Creative Media Practice students attended the Spring Taster Day at the University of Salford, based at MediaCity, gaining valuable insight into creative courses and university life.
The day included a series of hands-on workshops and presentations, allowing students to explore a range of subject areas. Students rotated through three sessions across the day, each combining practical activities with a tour of industry-standard facilities .
Students took part in sessions such as Broadcast Media: TV Production, Film Production: Creative Direction, Journalism (including podcasting and sports reporting) and Creative Computing: Digital Technology . These experiences gave them the opportunity to work with industry-style equipment and learn directly from university tutors and professionals.
The facilitating tutor, Jack, described the visit as an excellent experience, highlighting how proactive and engaged the students were throughout the day. The combination of practical workshops and facility tours helped students to better understand the expectations and opportunities available within higher education.
The visit provided a valuable and inspiring introduction to university study, supporting students as they begin to consider their future pathways. We hope to continue to have strong links with Salford University.
