Six Lower Sixth Economics students from Aquinas College recently competed in the North West Regional Finals of the Economics Olympiad at Lancaster University.
The Economics Olympiad is a prestigious academic competition, with more than 4,000 students entering from across the UK. Aquinas students performed strongly throughout the regional stage and were excellent ambassadors for the college.
Following their success at the regional finals, three Aquinas students have now qualified for the National Finals, which will take place in London in June. From there, the top-performing students will have the opportunity to progress to the International Final in Greece this August!
The competition tests students’ economic knowledge, analytical thinking and ability to apply theory to real-world issues. Reaching the national stage is a significant achievement, and the college is incredibly proud of all six students who represented Aquinas so well.
All eyes now turn to the national finals – and perhaps even the international stage, watch this space!
