Aquinas drama students recently visited the set of Waterloo Road in Stretford, Manchester for a day’s work experience as actors in the famous TV show! They worked a full day from 6 till 6, moving through costume and make-up departments to get fully prepared for a day’s filming on the actual sets for the show. The producers filmed the students in scenes in the fictitious school; walking in corridors; conflicts in the classroom; fire alarm scenes; discussions and debates; crowds in the courtyard: assemblies and talk scenes.
The students gained a real working insight into the filming process and experienced it directly from the actors’ perspective. Mixing with the actors playing the main roles in the show, and the supporting teams of make up and costume, and the assistant directors
Students will be glued to the show in coming months to spot themselves in the scenes across the episodes. By the end of the day, they were well drilled with the shouts of “actors on set now please!” and the reality of the daily working life of tv actors had really sunk in for the students.
