The BTEC Performing Arts (Acting) students went on a trip to HOME theatre in Manchester to see a play called The House Party. The play was a modern adaptation of the story of Miss Julie. Set at an 18th birthday party with excellent characterisation and intense themes the play took the audience on a roller-coaster ride for nearly two hours. The students were engaged throughout and dealt really well with some shocking moments, and most came out thinking it was the best play they had ever seen, the teachers (Carly and Karen) included.
We also had some lovely moments outside the theatre where a few students who also study music made use of a communal piano and gave the people sat outside a wonderful rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. A wonderful afternoon with wonderful students and lots to write about, inspire them and learn from for their final exam in a few weeks.
